 I know that was a little over two sentences but I didn't want to cut it and it doesn't give too much away. It is just a fun quote. I just read Half-Blood in pretty much a day and I absolutely loved it. Check out this book if you haven't. I hope you enjoyed the teaser!

Today I am really excited to be a part of the Dark Nebula by W.J. May cover reveal. This is the second book in the Chronicles of Kerrigan series.  I read the first book, Rae of Hope and absolutely loved it. I have been waiting for Dark Nebula quite impatiently since I finished, now the wait is almost over. When W.J. Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. With a crazy-happy childhood, she has always had a vivid imagination and way too much energy.The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occasion. “Meeting Razor” - “ReAwakened”

Ada Adams

My two-story fall was cushioned by the intruder’s body. He—a vampire, I realized—groaned as I landed on top of him, forcing his body into the muddy ground. I reached for my dagger, but he was quicker. Before I had a chance to pull it out, he slipped out from underneath me, flipping me over so that he was on top. His firm, muscular body pressed tightly against mine as his hands pinned my wrists to either side of my head. His face was covered by shadows, but I could make out a mischievous smirk dancing across perfectly-shaped full lips.

“You’re quite feisty, aren’t you?” he chuckled, bending forward to examine me. Deep, charcoal eyes overflowed with amusement.

He was actually enjoying this.

“I don’t wanna hurt you,” he whispered in a deep, throaty voice. “I’m gonna release you now. Don’t do anything stupid.”

He lifted his arm, removing his right hand from my left wrist. The moment I felt some freedom, I leaped forward, attempting a left hook at his jaw. He blocked my hand, once again pushing it toward the ground.

“I said I wasn’t going to hurt you!” he growled, pinning me even further into the soft, wet earth.

“Yes, but I never said I wouldn’t hurt you,” I snapped.

He brought his face toward mine. “I’d like to see you try,” he whispered.

Challenge accepted.

I raised my head—the only part of my body that wasn't restrained by the stranger’s body—inching my lips closer to his. He tensed for a moment, his eyes searching mine, as if surprised by my sudden change in behavior. Drops of rainwater slid down his chiseled jaw, pausing briefly on his lips before they plummeted onto mine. Then, a slow, smug smile spread across his face. I felt his body relax and he leaned even closer. His breath caressed my skin as his lips drew near.

It was exactly what I needed. Summoning all my strength, I twisted my hips to the side, shooting them up and out, then launching my legs from the ground. Thrown off-balance, my captor groaned and released one of my arms to brace for the fall, giving me the perfect opportunity to reach for my dagger. In one smooth move I darted behind him, placing him in a secure headlock—the blade of my weapon aimed directly at his heart.

“Who are you?” I demanded when I was certain he couldn’t escape my grip.

“I’m a twenty-four-year-old Taurus who enjoys long walks on the beach.” Even though I couldn’t see his face, I could feel his arrogant grin.

“You have ten seconds to explain yourself,” I ordered. “And then I’m really going to hurt you.”

“Oh, come on! Can’t we get back to kissing? You can’t tease a guy like that.”

“Ten, nine…” I pressed the dagger deeper into him, nicking the leather of his jacket.

“Hey! Watch it!”

“Eight…”
“Oh, alright. You’re no fun,” he sighed. “My name is Razor.”
“What kind of a name is that?”
“It’s a nickname.”
“What kind of a nickname is that?”

“Spike, Blade, Fang—all the good, pointy objects were already taken by fictional characters. It was the best I could do.”

About Ada:

In her career as a writer and an actress, Ada spends most of her days immersed in imaginary worlds. Much like the characters she enjoys playing and writing about, Ada is a martial artist with a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. She is also a big proponent of lifelong learning, and has attained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (it aids in creating characters with unique quirks!) as well as a Masters of Science in Education.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins Review

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

In the final book of the Hunger Games trilogy Katniss fought back against President Snow. She was the Mockingjay, the symbol of the rebellion. She had to be an example and lead the rebellion while also dealing with her emotions. The Capital had captured Peeta and the number one thing she wanted was for him to be safe. The second thing Katniss wanted was to kill President Snow for all the pain and destruction he had caused.

I was very disappointed with this book, after being so excited to read it after finishing Catching Fire and loving it. I felt the story lacked real emotion. It was more like reading a series of events, without really feeling emotionally connected to the characters, like I had with the other books. I read things that should have pulled at my heart but I only felt disconnected from the story.

I don’t mean to be harsh but after the beautiful work the author showed with the first two books this was a huge let down. I’m perfectly happy reading books that aren’t all happy and have fairy-tale endings. I read a ton of books that do not have happy endings. With that said I need to feel the emotion that the characters are supposedly feeling. I did not feel that in this book. This book gave me the feeling like that author was done with the series and just wanted to end it.

I also didn’t like how the future was tacked on. When I was reading it all I could think of is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was different because the story was not the same as Harry Potter. It showed her about twenty years later, who she ended up with and how her life turned out. This also made a statement from the author saying, “ok you know how their lives ended up, I’m done.” It didn’t feel original or give me much of a feeling for the characters’ lives.

The story line was a good idea but I just felt that it was wrongly executed. She could have made this last installment great but instead I feel like she ruined it.

I would like to share with all of you a remarkable blogger that I have met here in the blogging world. Cheles Bells welcomed me to the blogging world with open arms. She opened her warm heart to me and befriended me without another thought. It all started with friendly banter on twitter and has grown to word games and frequent emails. I have loved getting to know Cheles Bells and hope you all take a chance to get to know her as well.

I began my blog and played around on twitter. I followed people but didn’t really talk to anyone until Cheles began responding to my comments. We began visiting each other’s blogs and asked each other for help and advice. Being a new blogging I felt comforted with this new friend friendship and help. The blogging world can be overwhelming especially for a new blogger like myself. Kind bloggers like Cheles made it easier to adjust and feel welcomed to this world.

I would like to introduce you to Cheles Bells from A Belle’s Tales. I’m envious of her beautiful writing and how her reviews are crafted. I love that she blends her words with meaningful quotes from the books she reads.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver


“They say that the cure for love will make me happy and safe forever. And I’ve always believed them. Until now. Now everything has changed. Now, I’d rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie.” 

I am afraid I don’t possess the vocabulary to accurately describe this book. Beautiful, yes, but that does not do it justice. I was mesmerized from the beginning. This book tugged at my heart and left me breathless. The ending left me speechless. I could fill this entire page with quotes from Delirium due to Lauren Oliver’s lovely poetic writing. 

“Love: a single word, a wispy thing, a word no bigger or longer than an edge. That's what it is: an edge; a razor. It draws up through the center of your life, cutting everything in two. Before and after. The rest of the world falls away on either side.” 

A dystopian world that believes love, or as it has come to be called ‘amor deliria nervosa’, is a dangerous deadly disease. There is, however, a cure for the disease. Scientists have found a way to render the part of the brain that makes you feel love inactive. Of course, it also takes away the ability to feel compassion, sympathy, sensitivity, and at times, I felt, humanity. Not only does this affect young people who may have fallen in love, but the way one would feel about a friend, family member… even your own child. These are disregarded simply as side affects - a much better alternative than falling prey to the disease. When the youth of Portland turn 18, the procedure can be administered. Some embrace it…. Others don’t. What happens if you are one who doesn’t? 

"I'd rather die my way than live yours." 

The story follows 17 year old Lena, who lives in fear of the disease and cannot wait to have her procedure administered so that she may be cured. She can feel the disease in her blood, and for her it is unbearable. She is counting down the days until she can be cleansed and free from the worry of ever contracting the deliria. 

Then she meets Alex. "As soon as I look up, his eyes click onto my face. The breath whooshes out of my body and everything freezes for a second, as though I am looking at him through my camera lens, zoomed in all the way, the world pausing for that tiny span of time between the opening and closing of the shutter." 

Alex is a beautiful soul with an intriguing and heartbreaking story. Not only is he strong, confident, and brave, but he is gentle and tender. He quotes poetry. Mind you not just any poetry… Elizabeth Barrett Browning, my personal favorite. 

While this is a wonderful, tumultuous, and exciting love story, for me this book was about sacrifice - Ultimate sacrifice. Lena’s relationship with her mother and her mother’s story was poignant, at times heart wrenching, and enormously gripping. 

"I love you. Remember. They cannot take it". 

While I love YA books, especially dystopian futures, some can leave me with a bit of a let down. Sure, there is romance, or more like of a hint of romance, and that leaves me feeling frustrated. Delirium is an exception. This was one of the most romantic YA books I have read to date. 

"I hate skin; I hate bones and bodies. I want to curl up inside of him and be carried there forever." 

And the ending? A cliffhanger of epic proportions. It will definitely be a book to treasure and savor for quite some time. Delirium is easily one of my top five favorites. I am more than ready for the next book in this trilogy. 

“Love. It kills you both when you have it, and when you don’t.”

I discovered this was coming out from looking at another book blog. I read Beastly and enjoyed it. This book sounds really interesting and I plan on reading it when it comes out. I think it is cool that Alex Flinn is doing retellings of fairy tales with a  twist. I loved A kiss in Time and I still need to read Cloaked. 


I love the cover to this book also! It will look very nice on my bookshelf.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins Review

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Katniss made herself on the top of the Capital’s hate list. She found out how much trouble she was in when President Snow showed up at her new house threatening all the people she loved. The Capital feared an uprising, caused by her defiance at the games. If she didn’t fix the problem soon she would pay by the Capital harming her family and Gale. They couldn’t kill her because the people would know why and be angry so the Capital sought revenge a different way. The revenge they chose, Katniss never saw coming.

Suzanne Collins did an amazing job with the second installment to this series. A lot of the time with series’ the books after the first are good but not as good, with this book it was just as good if not better.

I was surprised time and time again as the story went along. I wasn’t expecting a lot of the events to happen and at times I was completely shocked. This book pulled a lot of emotions out of me. I found myself getting angry along with the characters or even feeling the terror they felt.

Suzanne Collins took me into this amazing world and I didn’t want to leave. I was with the characters until the end. The author has the ability to capture my attention. She holds it until well after I have finished. I can’t wait to read the final book, Mockingjay.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Every year the Hunger Games are held and it was time for them to begin again. There are twelve districts and each district has to have a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen entered into the games. The children are put into an arena and have a fight to the death. There can only be one survivor. The odds were high for Katniss and her friend Gale to get picked because it is done by a lottery system. Once you turn twelve your name went into it once each year and if you needed help with food for survival you could get some by entering your name more times. Katniss and Gale did this a lot. Even though the odds were high for them, Katniss’s younger sister Prim who only had her name entered once, got picked. Katniss Volunteered to save her sister and with that decision began the fight for her life.

I finally sat down and read this book now that the movie is coming out in March. I had heard great things about it and had it highly recommended to me many times. I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved the story. The adventure was always exciting and I was continually wondering what would happen next, which kept me turning the pages.

The characters seemed very real and I found myself cheering for them.  This book had heart also. It wasn’t just a cut-throat adventure, there was more to it. There was love, friendship and heart breaking moments. I was not only cheering for the main character Katniss. I wanted her to kick butt and win but I also couldn’t help loving some of the other characters (i.e. Rue).  I’ve been completely drawn into this world and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

It is definitely a bit of a dark book considering twenty four children are having a fight to the death. This is the first time I have read about this kind of thing. I think part of the reason I waited so long to read this book is because of the subject matter. It was a hard thing to wrap my head around.

Lizzie’s life changed as she knew it the moment she saw the new student Drew on the first day of school. She felt a connection with him like she knew him from somewhere but she couldn’t have. Lizzie’s best friend Chelsea took an interest in him and Lizzie was bothered by this. She couldn’t express her feelings because she didn’t understand them herself, not to mention she had a longtime boyfriend, Jeremy. Lizzie and Drew couldn’t fight fate for long before Lizzie had begun seeing flashes from their past lives. She realized they were connected deeper than she could have ever imagined; reincarnation.

This book had me completely entranced. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Michelle Madow’s words flowed beautifully making it so I couldn’t put it down. It kept my interest from the very beginning and I love it when author’s can do that. There are some great books I have read but it takes at least one hundred pages before the book gets interesting and in that time I can get distracted. When the author completely has me from the very 

beginning I absolutely love that!

I also thought it was really cool that the book was inspired by Taylor Swift’s music video, Love Story. The author saw this video and created the story behind it. That is just awesome. I think if Taylor Swift was to read this book she would be honored. Taylor Swift created a magical music video and Michelle Madow expanded that magic into a whole story.

I’ll begin by saying thank you to Net Galley and Harlequin for approving this advanced reader copy for me to read and review. I’m very appreciative.


A plague ravaged the land. People blamed their misery on the healers, and made them the enemy.  Avery was a healer and every healer had a bounty on their head. Everyone hated them and that is why Avry has been hiding that she is a healer, not staying in one place for very long. She has been on the run for Three years before she gets caught. She couldn’t ignore the dying child anymore. She made a choice even though she knew it would draw attention to her. Avry healed the child and took on those ailments weakening her so that she cannot flee afterward. The next day the town came for her and she attempts to escape but gets trapped. She is not sorry for saving the child, feeling the child’s life was worth her dying. She is saved from being executed. Her savior is a man she doesn’t know named Kerrick. He and his men help her escape but she must heal his friend. She is skeptical but decides it is better than dying. What she didn’t expect to find out is that she is the last healer alive.


I have not read anything else by Maria Snyder yet, but I have had Poison Study on my shelf for a while to read. I do plan to read that in the near future. I have heard great things about the author and also great things about Touch of Power and I was not disappointed. 


I enjoyed getting to know these characters and learning their voices; especially Avry's sarcasm. She made me laugh and I could relate to her in some ways. Avry and Kerrick were fun to read about as Avry unknowingly chipped at Kerrick’s tough exterior. I had an idea of what would happen in the end but it did turn out a little differently than I expected. The end also screamed for a next book along with being labeled number one. I look forward to see what the journey holds for this new series. I see several books in the future.

I just Finished Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder (Net Galley) but I cannot post my review quite yet because or ARC rules but it's something to look forward to.

I have two more Arcs to read before I get to read Remembrance by Michelle Madow. I'm really excited to read this book!

I'm now starting Saving June by Hannah Harrington and that will be follows by The Next Door Boys by Jolene B. Perry. (Net Galley) I'm looking forward to reading these books and sharing them with all of you.

Chloe is a normal girl until she turns 16 and dies falling off of a tower. When she wakes up alive after dying; she is freaked out. No one could survive that fall but there she is, alive. Then she discovers her strength and new speed. She is able to run long distances without getting winded. This was a big difference to the girl who avoided gym class.  Then there were the claws… Chloe discovers there are more people like her around the same time as she discovers she is in danger. Chloe’s entire life is about to change as she knows it.

The Nine Lives of Chloe king consists of three books; the Fallen, the Stolen, and the Chosen. Each book seemed slow until close to the end. The end is where the most action happened and gained the most of my attention. Once my attention was fully drawn in the book was over. I just wanted more throughout the entire book. I did find myself enjoying the last book (Chosen) a lot more than the others. The content seemed to be more satisfying and had more substance. The last book came together really well and wrapped up the series nicely. The books were interesting because of what the story was about. Mai are like cat people with scary claws, inhuman like reflexes.

Vamps by Nancy Collins Review

Vamps by Nancy A. Collins ★☆☆☆☆

I decided to read this book because I was working at Borders at the time and she was on a book tour and came to our store. I was excited to meet the authors coming, along with Nancy Collins were Claudia Gray (Evernight) and Ellen Schreiber (Vampire Kisses).  I had recently read Twilight and was in the Vampire craze along with most of the population. This story was a comparison to Gossip girl except with vampires. I found myself rolling my eyes as I read.  I was not impressed with this book. This author was doing what many began doing, writing books about vampires because of the new craze. I feel that she did not do this very successfully. After meeting the author I was even less impressed. The author was very rude and not at all grateful for the fans that were there. The other two authors were enthusiastic to talk with their fans and very kind and respectful. Their fans are what got them there. I had a very nice conversation with Claudia Gray. The author’s attitude killed any chance of me picking up future books of hers. If I meet an author and they are not nice I’m really unlikely to read their books.  The author’s attitude and the lack of originality of her book made it not worth reading.
