ReVamped by Ada Adams Review

ReVamped by Ada Adams
★★★★☆

Dawn was a young vampire fighting for independence after being sheltered her whole life. Dawn had been trained to fight and protect others, and now, she was ready for her own mission to put her training to use. She excelled in everything she did, but her father had avoided giving her a mission. He finally gave her a mission that he thought would be harmless in Angel Creek. She was to train a new group of guardians for the town and she had her work cut out for her. None of the vampires picked were ready for combat training. The one mysterious vampire in town that would be good for the job wanted nothing to do with them. Before long, the group had to put their training to use as they stumbled upon things her father never wanted her to find out. Dawn was strong-willed and refused to give up, even when she was ordered.

ReVamped was a super fun vampire story to read and a great start to a new series. I really enjoyed this take on vampires and liked seeing them as protectors, well the good ones, anyway. There are always villains in every good story. The story read very fast; I found myself finished in one sitting. The story was exciting and interesting, and I definitely wanted more of the world. I’m glad it is going to be a series.

I have to say I loved the group of vampires that Dawn was training in the book. This group would never have been friends otherwise, and I liked seeing their relationships grow. I also loved Sebastian, the mysterious guy I referred to in my summary. He has the whole dark, mysterious, distant thing down. I’m glad that we get to know his story as the book goes on. I really can’t wait to get more of him in the next book. So, yes, he is swoon worthy.

The author did a wonderful job with her debut book. Not only is the cover gorgeous, but also, the story is well written and a ton of fun to read. I’m not saying the story is all fun and games; there are serious parts and “oh crap” moments. The descriptions were strong, enabling me to picture the scenes easily. I didn’t get caught up anywhere when I was reading, and I am happy to know that the author really cares about her writing. She sent me a couple of updated e-books before I had a chance to read it because she found some minor errors. I loved that she was on top of that, and it showed me that she takes being an author seriously and will continue to take the time to edit, even though it is already published. Not all authors take the time to do this, especially after it has been published. I really respect her for that.

This was a great read and I would recommend it to fantasy readers.

I received this book for review from the author.
