Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute.
A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. He needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa's heart, will do anything to save her. (Goodreads)

Teaser Tuesday (8)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends. The special Collector’s First Edition will include a never-before-seen letter from Will to his family!

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

*TEASER* "So you're suggesting we take the train up to York, meet a ninety-year-old man, leap on him, and yank out his hair? I'm sure the clave will be ecstatic."

Hottest boys in Books
I have seriously been thinking about this for some time and it is honestly hard to pick. I have a ton of favorite fictional Hotties! I think I’m going to have to talk about a few because I can’t decide on one. I stopped at 2 and also shared my friends response but I have many more Swoon Worthy men!

My first hottie is Jace from the mortal instruments series by Cassandra Clare. He is cocky and full of himself, very self assured. He is a strong shadowhunter with a muscular physic that any girl would love to stare at. He has the golden blonde hair; yes it is always the blondes…  Though he has a tough exterior he ends up letting Clary penetrate it, oh how love can change a man. He becomes more likable as a person when he is with Clary and not as much like an arrogant jerk. Even with his arrogant qualities he is HOT.

Next is Adam from the Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs. He is the sexy werewolf next door neighbor of Mercy Thompson, swoon, sigh. He is a werewolf so he is temperature hot, yes this is the man that will keep you warm in a snow storm. He is witty and funny but serious when having to do with serious business.

“MS. THOMPSON, it said in heavy block letters, PLEASE KEEP YOUR FELINE OFF MY PROPERTY. IF I SEE IT AGAIN, I WILL EAT IT.”

Awwww poor kitty! Although knowing Adam he won’t actually eat the cat, and he totally petted her before sending her back.
He is Dominant and very powerful being the Alpha of his pack, another sign that you are pretty safe around him. Werewolves are built very well, and even though you would be drawn to him because of his dominance he is quite nice to look at.
I would love to curl up with this swoon worthy guy!!!!

Showing that I had been thinking about this and I talked about it with my good friend Katie. She ended up posting her thought on facebook. Here it is.

Katie:
OK!!!! sooo, I was hanging with my friend Christie Cote tonight and we got talking about book like we usually do, and she asked me, "who would be your book boyfriend?" you know the one. the one that always makes you sigh like a love-sick school girl? well christie, I’ve been thinking long and hard about this!!!
i would have to go with (drum roll please) Samuel Cornick, doctor, third most dominant werewolf in north America. I mean, great smile, awesome personality, plays the violin, and probably abs for days (just sayin'). oh yea, did I mention he's probably over three hundred years old? did i ALSO mention he speaks welsh(and probably several other languages)? (you know how i love those accents) like seriously?? who wouldn't want to snuggle up with that?!? ;-)

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare Review

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
★★★★★

Tessa thought she was a normal human girl, but found out how wrong she was when her aunt passed away. She had nothing left in New York, so she left for England to be with her brother. When she arrived she was captured by a pair called the Dark Sisters, and taught what she could do. The night she was to be given to someone called the Magister, a Shadowhunter (supernatural secret police) named Will rescued her and brought her back to the London Institute.  Once she was free from the Dark Sisters all she wanted was to find her brother and save him. She found out a lot more then she bargained for in that search.

This was another fantastic book by Cassandra Clare. I loved reading about the characters in a different century than when the Mortal Instruments series took place. I also liked that it was in London, giving different scenery than the other books.

I absolutely loved the characters. They worked very well together and felt real. The various relationships in the book were great especially Jem and Will’s. They have a unique relationship and their banter is hilarious. I was laughing throughout this entire book and a lot of it was because of them.  Will’s snarky remarks are also a lot of fun.

“Are you implying that shreds of my reputation remain intact?" Will demanded with mock horror. "Clearly I have been doing something wrong. Or not something wrong, as the case may be."

He banged on the side of the carriage. "Thomas! We must away at once to the nearest brothel. I seek scandal and low companionship.”

I have loved all of Cassandra Clare’s books. I easily get lost in them and this one was no different. She always pulls me into the world and then I don’t want to come out. That is how I felt when I finished this book and I can’t wait to start reading Clockwork Prince. I have no doubt that it will be just as good.

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
Expected Release Date: May 8, 2012

In Book 5: City of Lost Souls, the Shadowhunters struggle to piece together their shattered world after a betrayal by one of their own leaves them reeling.(goodreads)

I cannot wait for this book! The cover is beautiful as usual. I have been anticipating this book since I turned the last page of City of Fallen Angels, which left me wondering what the heck was going on. I love this series and will most likely read anything Cassandra Clare writes.

TGIF (1)

TGIF at GReads - This feature is for Fridays to re-cap the week's posts & to answer a question from GReads.

Question: First & Last: What was the first book you read in 2011 and the last you finished in 2011? How do you feel about these books? Would you recommend them to other readers?

So for the first book I read in 2011 I'm not entirely sure. I wasn't using goodreads to track my reads then. I'm going to go with, Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton. I really enjoyed this book and it took me on a fun and surprising adventure. I would definitely recommend it to other readers!

The last book I read in 2011 was Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. I just finished it and I loved it. I really enjoyed the characters, they made me laugh a lot during the entire book. I highly recommend this book to fans of the Mortal Instrument series or just Young Adult book lovers.

Today I'm starting a Happy New Years and 100 Follower giveaway!
