Question: Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity?  Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

For comfort reads I just read some of my favorite books/ series'. I love to get lost in the Mercy Thomson series by Patricia Briggs. Now that I have read all of the books that are out, I have begun listening to them in audio, which is fun and easy to relax to.

Another go to for me is, anything by Lurlene McDaniel. Her books are fast reads and I absolutely love them, making them comfort reads for me.

Question: Best I've Read So Far: We're half way through the year (crazy how time flies!), which top 3 books are the best you've read so far this year?


I have read quite a few awesome books so far this year. I'll start with my new obsession, Obsidian by Jennifer Armentrout. I absolutely loved this book and can't believe I waited so long to read it. 

Next will be Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, I don't know how she does it but even when I was upset at what was happening I couldn't put the darn book down. 



For the last choice I will go with Red Heart Tattoo by Lurlene McDaniel. She is my favorite author and did not disappoint me one bit with this new book, which comes out next month. I think this was my favorite out of her more recent books.

Question: Authors Are Our Celebrities: Have you ever contacted an author you admired? How did that experience go?  If not, which author would you love to have a chat with?

Other than meeting a couple of authors I love at book signings and such I haven't tried contacting an author that I admire. I would really love to talk to Lurlene McDaniel, she has inspired me in so many ways and she is my all time favorite author. I have never tried to contact her because I wouldn't know how to get in contact with her and not through some fan mail thing or something and then there is also the fact of how scary it would be to contact her. Book signings are easier because they are there for anyone that is around to go meet them, but contacting an author is more personal. I guess what I am trying to say is it is a bit terrifying. Maybe now that I am blogging I will gain enough courage to try to contact her.

Question: Most Valuable Book: From your personal collection of books, which ones hold the most value to you - is it signed by the author? or maybe it's your favorite story of all time? Share it with us.

My first most valuable book is Six Months to Live by Lurlene McDaniel because it was the first book I read by her and made me love her books. This was the first book I stayed up past my bedtime to read because I couldn't put it down.


I also value all of my hard cover Harry Potter books that I have collected since I began reading the series. I used to have soft covers of the first few that I read and then I kept the nice ones safe. Now I just have the hardcovers.


The last books that are very valuable to me are my Patricia Briggs books. I absolutely love the Mercy Thompson series, as I'm sure a lot of you have noticed by now. I just got all of the books that I own by her autographed, so they are even more valuable to me now.

Question: Cast Your Own Story: If you could use existing characters from some of your favorite books to create a new story, who would be in it?


This could turn into a huge list of characters which would make a very interesting book.
I have no idea what the story would be but here I go with some of my favorite characters I would like to read more about even in a new story.

I'm quite obsessed with Daemon from Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout right now so I have to start by choosing him. He always has a smart ass comment to make and a lot of them make me laugh. He is also VERY swoon worthy.

Mercy Thompson from Moon Called (Mercy Thompson series) by Patricia Briggs. She is a kick ass strong female character who tends to find herself in trouble. She is just awesome and oh yah, she runs around with werewolves.

Kaylin from Cast in Shadow (Chronicles of Elantra series) by Michelle Sagara. She is another strong female character who is snarky and kicks butt. She also hates waking up in the morning like me.

Four from Divergent by Veronica Roth. He is just amazing and easy to love.


I will stop there or I may have too may characters together in one book fighting for center stage.

Question: Supporting Characters: We tend to gush over those main characters the most, but what about those supporting roles? Who are some of your favorites? 

Warren from the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. He is trustworthy and one of Mercy's closest friends. He is funny loving and caring. He is a powerful werewolf but pretends he isn't because he is gay which isn't very acceptable among the werewolf but that doesn't stop Adam from accepting him and being his best friend. I also love Kyle, Warren's boyfriend, he is quick witted and funny, oh and he is a human dating a werewolf and doesn't quite know it in the beginning of the first book, Moon Called. They are a great combination and I love it when they are in scenes.

Question: Literary Vacations: If you could take a trip this summer to any place within a fictional book, where would you go? Tell us about your summer dream vacation!

I would love to visit England so I'm going to go with Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare for this one. I know the place isn't exactly fictional but the book is. I love the shadowhunting world and I would totally love to visit it and I mean who wouldn't want to meet Jem? I have never been to England but it sounds beautiful and I would love to just explore everywhere and listen to those accents all day. I don't have specific places I want to see I would just want to explore and probably hang out and read somewhere, scratch that I would find someone with an awesome accent to read to me. :)

Sorry to say there isn't a whole lot new this week. It is the end of the semester and I have been overwhelmed by homework and getting ready for finals. Question: Book Blogger Influences: Has there been a particular  book blogger who's influenced what you read?Share with us a review/book blog that convinced you to pick up a certain book.

One of the most influential bloggers in my life is Michele/ Cheles Bells from A Belle's Tales. I love talking books with Michele and she got me to read Delirium by Lauren Oliver and Divergent by Veronica Roth and I loved both of them. Michele writes beautiful reviews and is a pleasure to talk to. She has also got me interested in some other books she has reviewed but I have not had time to read them yet.

Two other bloggers I love to talk to are, Mickey from I'm A Book Shark and Shellie from Creative Reads. They both write awesome reviews and are fantastic to talk with. Shellie has sent me an Arc she really enjoyed which I also haven't had a chance to read but it sounds really good an I trust her judgement! I hope I get to meet all three of these awesome bloggers in person some day!

Question: Musical Stories: If you could read a book about any song, which song would you love to see written down in story form?


I can kind of cheat on this question because there is  a song but one of my favorite artists that an author decided to write the story for it. The book is Remembrance by Michelle Madow based on the song and music video Love Story by Taylor Swift. I love the book and love the song! I think Michelle Madow did an awesome job turning the song into a longer story. I love Taylor Swift so if you take any of her songs and made it a book i would most likely read it.

Question: Book Blogger Retreat: If you could gather up a handful of book blogger friends to spend a weekend away talking books, where would you go? Tell us about it.


This would be awesome! The closest I think I'm getting to this is BEA which I hope to attend in june. I'm so excited! I just wish my friend Michele from A Belle's Tales could go and also Shellie from Creative Reads and a few others that I would love to meet in real life.


I would love to have a  retreat at a beach, any beach would be a ton of fun so here in Maine in the summer, Hawaii or anything cool like that! I love laying in the sand and how awesome would it be to lay in the sand with book bloggers and read books and squeal about them!

Question:  Social Networking: Do you use Twitter or Facebook to promote your blog?  How has it benefited your book blogging experience? If not, how do you promote your blog? Share your twitter handle and/or Facebook link!


I use Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Goodreads among other social venues. It is nice to interact with people and other bloggers through these sites. I mostly interact through Twitter for conversational use but post updated through the others. Social networks are a good source to advertise and for posts to get noticed. I know I'm following so many blogs I can't catch all of the updates so seeing their updates on twitter and facebook and such helps a lot.

Question: Promote An Author: Is there a particular author you wish got more recognition? Pick one author & tell us why we should read their work.

Michelle Madow should get more recognition. She is a fantastic new author whose Debut novel was Remembrance which was followed up by the short story, Vengeance. The final book in the series, Timeless is expected to come out at the end of this year.

I read Remembrance  this past year and instantly fell in love with it. I love Taylor Swift and the music video Love Story which is what inspired Remembrance. I was able to see where her story was inspired by Taylor Swift and Love Story while she was also able to make it her own. The author created a beautiful story that I wanted more of well after I finished the book. I devoured this wonderful story in one sitting and couldn't wait to get my hands on the next installment.

The author is also super nice, I have talked to her through twitter and was lucky enough to participate in her title scavenger hunt for the title of the final book, Timeless by hosting a post with one of the letters on my blog. It was a lot of fun. I think Michelle is pretty great and I hope more people will  become aware of her books and read it.

Question: Book Moments: What has been your favorite moment (scene) in a book that you've read so far in 2012? Please be kind & not include spoilers.

There are many scenes and moments I love. One of my favorite moments was in Divergent by Veronica Roth when Tris climbed the old ferris wheel with Four. I really loved that scene and how kick ass it was the Tris was climbing that thing so she could help her team win.

Question: Required Reading: Which book from your school days do you remember reading & enjoying? Is there a book published now that you'd like to see in today's curriculum for kids?










 

Honestly there wasn't many books I enjoyed reading when I was being forced. one that I really loved reading is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. I think that it is such a great book and at least every girl should read it. They even made a pretty good move adaptation of it.I also really enjoyed Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. It is not something I would typically read at all but I really loved it and I plan to read it again.

There are so many awesome Young Adult books out now that I would have loved to read in school. I'm not sure if they will ever end up in the curriculum. I like a lot of fantasy so that probably doesn't help either. With that my answer will probably be horrible because I would say things like the Hunger Games, Divergent, City of Bones and all of my favorite YA titles. I feel that probably isn't a great answer because those probably aren't the types of books they want to have in school discussions but one can dream right?

Question: Love Stories: What are some of your favorite fictional love stories?


There are so many! I don't read romance novels but most of the time the books I read have a good romance in them also. I love Clary and Jace in the Mortal Instruments, Kissed by an Angel, The last song, Angel Trilogy, Mercy Thompson series, Remembrance, Significance, A Rose for Melinda, and many many more. I love awesome relationships in books :) They are great and I'm a hopeless romantic. Most of these have more about them then the relationship/ loves tories but they do have great love stories in them also.

Question:  Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?


I must be honest, as horrible as it is, the Covers. *GASP* I know I know don't judge a book by it's cover. I have read some awesome books with horrible covers and some horrible books with awesome covers. I still love pretty covers and they can definitely catch my attention. The next is the summary of the book. If the book looks pretty but sounds like I won't like it then I won't read it. If I read a summary that sounds great but has a bad cover I'll read it. Content matters to me. I won't read a book just because of the cover but hey we all look with our eyes first :-P


When I am reading a  review then I take the review into consideration. Sometimes the opinion makes me excited or if I read a review for a book I want to read but has a negative reaction I take it into account but don't dismiss the book on the account of that one persons opinion. Everyone likes different things and reacts differently, that is how it is. I have loved books that others hate and I have hated books others have loved. I appreciate everyones honest opinion and yes sometimes reviews can make or break the possibility of me reading a  book.
