How do you feel about cliffhanger endings in books?


I may have a love/hate relationship with them. They are great devices for ending a book in a series so you want to read more and get the next book. If the author leaves the end with a cliffhanger they better be writing that next book though! :-P When I encounter a cliffhanger most of the time I'm like, "no what the hell? you can't leave it like that, it will kill me!" I don't do well with suspense, but I can see it as a good thing. It keeps my interest and has me racking my brain wondering what could happen. I may also pull out hair and lose sleep and randomly mumble to myself about it, but hey that is all in the fun right? In the end I suppose the answer is, they are great and work but I still hate them :-P
